Well He gives you a sun in the morning and warms your room with its light. He may even order a chorus of birds to serenade you with song. Some of us may wonder why our hearts should still wake sad or why our minds run with worry. If that’s you Friend, take a deep breath; for joy is sometimes mingled amidst the thorns. Today might be a day for the battle of a glad heart. Take courage. Don’t be afraid. The author of joy writes each life moment with such intentional grace and authority. Greet this morning by remembering you are loved by your Maker and thank Him.
You are given hope in Jesus. You are being handed a new day. What’s in it but gifts brimming with mercy. And each of you who love and follow Him, know this–the tasks that are yours today, are but bricks for a beautiful, lasting kingdom that is being built. Lay them down with the assurance that no task is left unseen or a waste of time if it is done for Him.
Nothing goes unnoticed by Him-your kind and wise overseer. Just pay attention to what He has to say and love Him. Trust Him. Obey him. Let your heart rest. You are human and He is God. You can make mistakes today; you can be misunderstood; you can be uncertain of what to do next…..but He is God. Be glad about that. He is good and He’s patient and He’s wise and He’s really, really kind. He loves you and He chose you to take up the brick today. So take your tasks and do them with love.
Will you trust Him today before it makes sense? Will you trust Him before you even feel you can manage the schedule? Will you trust Him when your mind feels weak? Will you trust him with your expectations? Will you trust him with your failings? Will you trust that He is pleased when you hand Him your heart, soul, and mind? Will you trust him with each brick?
We may not be handing him the gift of sun and songbirds as He does for us this morning. But I believe there is a smile on his face when we take to Him the gift we seem so faithfully able to give-our brokenness. He’s pleased when we recognize just how trustworthy He truly is and how much we need Him.
There is a bigger picture here that we cannot see today; but there is also a God who knows you and loves you. What’s in a new day but perhaps the chance to know Him and love Him too?
Wow. Beautiful truth, beautifully written. Thank you for sharing hope, Laura. You are in Good Company today and thank you for pointing us to Jesus.
